IMPACT OF TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT ON SUPPLY CHAIN PERFORMANCE OF JKI LIMITED: A MANAGERIAL PERSPECTIVE
Abstract
To regain the competitive edge, companies began to adopt productivity and service delivery improvement programs which had proven themselves particularly successful in Japan and other industrially developed countries. One of these “improvement programs” is the total quality management (TQM) system. The present paper examines the impact of TQM on supply chain performance of Jammu & Kashmir Industries (JKI) Limited.
Survey data was collected from 171 managers of 11 manufacturing units of JKI. The results of findings concluded the need for renewed focus on quality control techniques & quality management concept, redesigning product-mix through technically innovative process, activating market intelligence and building strong linkages with R&D institutions/agencies & universities.
