A STUDY ON CUSTOMER PERCEPTION TOWARDS MOBILE NUMBER PORTABILITY WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO TRICHY TOWN

Abstract
Digitalisation has played a drastic role in the development of all nations around the world. In this digital era, India is also reaching greater heights with new technical inventions and innovations in almost all the sectors. The Indian Telecom Sector is not an exception to this. With the reformative changes in its policies and practices and the ever-increasing number of subscribing customers, the Sector is growing at a faster rate than any other sector. Especially, the technological innovations in the Mobile Communication Industry have evolved remarkable growth rate in the Industry every year. One such new technological innovation is the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) facility introduced in the Industry which enables the customers to retain the same mobile number while migrating from one Mobile Service Provider (MSP) to another. In this context, the present study is an attempt to identify the awareness and perception of the 125 Respondent mobile phone users regarding MNP and the findings do indicate that they are aware of MNP and also stated that MNP is a useful service which would benefit them with uninterrupted service network and affordable tariff rates from the competing MSPs.
