CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED BY STAFF IN THEIR HIGHER LEARNING THROUGH DISTANCE EDUCATION - A CASE OF BOTHO UNIVERSITY

Abstract


The object of this study is to find out the challenges encountered in Higher Learning through Distance Education with particular reference to Botho University staff. Botho University has availed time and provides resources to assist staff in this endeavor. While this is true, so far no investigation has been made in this regard. To guide this study, three research questions were formulated. The study was carried out in Francistown, and Maun campuses.

 

The population of the study comprised of lecturers teaching Accounting, Computing and Business and administrative staff. A questionnaire of 17 Likert-type statements and three open ended questions were formulated for data collection. The collected data were tabulated, percentage analysis made and graphical illustration made. Therefore this study aims to shed light on challenges encountered by Botho University staffs that are pursuing higher learning through distance education and to provide suggestions to overcome the issues.
