Arundhathi Thangeda, Masego Thobogang

Abstract

Technology is the means by which we have things done faster, easier and more accurately. Technology has become an inseparable part of education as it can be identified in almost every well-known form of education. This may include the traditional learning, distance learning, online learning, correspondence learning, and so on. Thanks to technology there has been an expansion of education throughout the world and as it grows so does education. The fact is that technology is important and we need it. However, the focus here is the challenges in the use of technology in education. Technology may be a necessity but what are the challenges that come with it and how can they be approached to make an improvement. The problem is that there is not much attention given to the challenges faced in the use of technology and as a result so little effort if any, is given to reduce or deal with them.

In this research, questionnaires were handed out to the students of Botho University to find out the challenges they are facing or have faced in their interaction with technology in the education field and how they could be solved. Subsequently the responses in the questionnaires were compiled and compared with more research information to bring about concision. The objective of this research is to bring consciousness to the challenges facing the use of technology in education which would make it easier to challenge the challenges with solutions to them. For it is through awareness that there can be a cause for action.
