A STUDY ON STRESS CAUSING FACTORS AMONG INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EMPLOYEES AFFECTING ORGANISATION PRODUCTIVITY

Abstract


The productivity in Information technology industry has turn out to be a tricky issue since the stress level of workforce has skyrocketed during the recent times. The stress is leading to work irregularities, futile deliveries of projects, low spirits and high skill turnover. The factors which are causative to mental anguish are job sovereignty, stern deadlines, working hours, motivation, workplace bulling, family and personal issues.  The intention of this paper is to recognize the intensity of the factors which are causing stress among employees associated with IT companies and their management by using appropriate tools and techniques. The survey method is in use to collect responses from respondents by structured questionnaire. Sample size of 94 respondents of employees from Information technology organisations is considered for the study. Random convenience sampling method is adopted to gather data. Hypothesis considered for the study are the significant association between magnitude of stress with working load and Woking hours across variables. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability test and other appropriate statistical techniques are employed for analysis. Conceptual model is developed to find the relationship among the factors which are influencing the stress level among IT employees.  The outcome of the study is that there exists significance between stress level and variables.
