DIFFICULTIES IN DOING LAPAROSCOPIC CHOLECYSTECTOMY IN ACUTE CHOLECYSTITIS
Abstract
80 case of acute cholecystitis was operated laparoscopically within 72 hours and also in cases reporting later than 72 hours with or without lump. All cases except five could be successfully operated laparoscopically though with some difficulties in some cases. 5 cases required open conversion (6.75%). The complication rate was a little higher (22.5%) with major complications like bile leak in 2 cases and umbilical port hernia in one case.
