CAUSE & IMPACT OF THE HIRAKUD DAM FOR THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT: AN EXPLORATIVE STUDY ON WESTERN PART OF ODISHA

Abstract


In the present century, most of the countries have been suffering acute drinking water problems in the world due to the increasing population. To overcome these problems, only solution is that to construct large dam like Harked Dam having multi-objectives like fishing, irrigation, water national highway, power generation and industrial purpose. The present study is the brief analysis related to the Haiku Dam and its cause and impact for the socio-economic empowerment especially in the western part of Odisha. Hence, we have collected data both secondary and primary data using standard questionnaire. Further, we have used reliability test to know the reliability of the data after testing the data normality. The conclusion part is that there are significant impact having socio-economic empowerment of the people like education, health and economic empowerment of the western part of Odisha.
