THE MANTLE OF POSSIBILITIESFORDEVELOPING AND USING HUMAN CAPACITIES IN ATTAINING DESIRABLE QUALITY OF WORK LIFE

Abstract


QWL consists of opportunities for active involvement in group working arrangements or problem solving that are of mutual benefit to employees or employers, based on labor management cooperation. This paper presents the role of opportunity to use and develop human capacities in attaining desired Quality of Work Life (QWL). The study was conducted among 425 employees of knitted garment factories in Tirupur city. Among the 13 constructs identified for opportunity to use and develop human capacities were factored to five important factors and among the five factors provision of support services and skill training and allowing workers to use their skill and abilities fully are significant and provision of monitoring and reporting systems and lack of job rotation, provision of forums for decision making and authority and responsibility to make decisions, and  lack of training to raise personal capacity are insignificant in the estimation of satisfaction towards possibilities of developing capacities.
