Focus and Scope
International Journal of Surgery and Surgical Sciences (IJSSS) is a tri-annual, reviewed, interdisciplinary journal. IJSSS focuses on integrating theory, research and practice in the area of surgery and surgical sciences. It aspires to bring academicians, researchers, doctors, surgery as well as surgical industry people and practitioners together.
Global in scope and authorship, International Journal of Surgery and Surgical Sciences (IJSSS) bridges the gap across surgery and surgical communities vis a vis its multiple disciplines with a view of sharing information and to provide a platform for debate with the widest possible audience, doctors, researchers, academicians, surgery as well as surgical experts. The IJMPR has a particular interest in trans-disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches focusing on the issues relevant in contemporary surgical world. It serves as a forum for review, reflection and discussion informed by the results of recent and ongoing research.
The journal discusses the distinctive disciplinary practices within the sciences of the surgery and surgical field and examines examples of these practices. In order to define and exemplify disciplinarity, the journal fosters dialogue ranging from the broad and speculative to the microcosmic and empirical. In considering the varied interdisciplinary, trans-disciplinary or multidisciplinary work across and between the natural and applied sciences, the journal showcases interdisciplinary practices in action. The focus of papers ranges from the finely grained and empirical, to wide-ranging multi-disciplinary and transdisciplinary practices, to perspectives on knowledge and method.

Duties of Reviewers
- Confidentiality: Information regarding manuscripts submitted by authors should be kept confidential and be treated as privileged information. Editors should take reasonable responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper.
- Acknowledgement of Sources: Manuscript reviewers must ensure that authors have acknowledged all sources of data used in the research. Any kind of similarity or overlap between the manuscripts under consideration or with any other published paper of which reviewer has personal knowledge must be immediately brought to the editor's notice.
- Standards of Objectivity: Review of submitted manuscripts must be conducted objectively and observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments, so that authors can use them for improving the paper.
- Promptness: In the event that a reviewer feels it is not possible for him/her to complete review of manuscript within stipulated time or feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript, then this information must be communicated to the editor, so that the manuscript could be sent to another reviewer.
- Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the manuscripts.

General Information
Conditions of Acceptance
• Papers will only be published in English.
• Each typescript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been submitted for publication elsewhere in English, unless it was a conference paper, in which case this should be noted together with the statement that the paper was not originally copyrighted and that it has been completely re-written. Previous publication in another language, should also be disclosed.
• Papers should be strictly prepared based on the Author guidelines.
• The Editor reserves the right to refuse any typescript, whether on invitation or otherwise, and to make suggestions and/or modifications before publication.
• Typescripts which have been accepted become the property of the IJSSS/SPEAK Foundation. It is a condition of acceptance that copyright shall be vested in the editor and SPEAK Foundation, unless the paper has been designated Open Access and the appropriated arrangements made.
• The SPEAK Foundation shall not be held responsible for errors which are the result of author’s oversights.
• All papers published in IJSSS by SPEAK Foundation place great emphasis on the quality of the papers they publish.
• The editor’s recommendations determine whether a paper will be accepted / accepted subject to change / subject to resubmission with significant changes / rejected.

1. Author Guidelines
• Typescript preparation
1. The original typescript should be submitted electronically in A4 size format, with a word count of 4000-6000 (excluding figures), following the other submission.
2. Typescript should have double line spacing at the time of submission.
3. A final paper which would exceed 6000 words or occupy more than 15 pages of the Journal may be returned for abridgement.
4. The text of the paper should include title, abstract, text, references and notes, tables, figure captions, figures, but not the names of authors, their biographical notes nor any acknowledgements. Please make sure that author’s names are not included in the document/file properties.
5. For email submissions, you will need a separate file containing the title of the paper, plus the names, affiliation and complete addresses, e-mail and fax number of authors, and an abstract, keywords, brief biographical notes about authors and any acknowledgements; and Resume of the contributor.
6. All papers must be written in English. If English is not your first language, please ask an English-speaking colleague to proofread your paper.
• International context
1. It should not be assumed that the reader is familiar with specific national institutions or corporations. Authors are encouraged to approach their chosen topic with an international perspective.
2. Countries and groupings of countries should be referred to by their full title (for example, 'Asia’, 'Europe' and 'America' are all ambiguous).
3. Special attention should be paid to identifying units of currency by nationality.
4. Acronyms should be translated in full into English.

Please assist us by following these guidelines:
1. Title : as short as possible
2. Authors Details and Address : Author Name and Position, department, name of institution, full postal address and email address for each author
3. Abstract: approximately 100 words, maximum 150
4. Keywords: approximately 8 words or phrases. Keywords are important for online searching.
5. Biographical notes : approximately 100 words per author, maximum 150.
6. Affiliation : If any.
7. Conflict of interest : If any.
• References and notes
1. IJSSS journal uses the Harvard (name and date) short reference system for citations in the text with a detailed alphabetical list at the end of the paper. For example 'Large (2010) suggests ...' or 'Liang and Zeger (1986) found that ...' or 'Both Kremen et al. (2008) and Weickert et al (2000) extracted ...'
2. Footnotes should be avoided, but any short, succinct notes making a specific point, may be placed in number order following the alphabetical list of references.
3. References should be made only to works that are published, accepted for publication (not merely 'submitted'), or available through libraries or institutions. Any other source should be qualified by a note regarding availability.
4. Full reference should include all author’s names and initials, date of publication, title of paper, title of publication (italics), volume and issue number (of a journal), publisher and form (books, conference proceedings), page numbers.
• Figures
All illustrations, whether diagrams or photographs, are referred to as Figures. Figures may be black and white or colour; and numbered sequentially. Please prepare all figures, especially line diagrams, to the highest possible standards. Digital art may be created/scanned and submitted as either TIFF, JPG or PPT files.
• Translated works
1. Difficulty often arises in translating acronyms, so it is best to spell out an acronym in English (for example, IIRP – French personal income tax).
2. Similarly, labels and suffixes need careful attention where the letters refer to words which have been translated.
3. The names of mathematical functions may change in translation - check against an English or American mathematical reference text.

Manuscript Submission and Publication Fee
There is NO Submission Fee for Contribution of manuscript for approval. Once the manuscript is approved, the author has to pay for the publication as per following sections:
1. For author inside India: Rs.3500/- (one publication of article/research paper and one publication of research letter/ book review/ conceptual notes/ executive summary/ report in a year subject to approval).
2. For author outside India: USD 135 (one publication of article/research paper and one publication of research letter/ book review/ conceptual notes/ executive summary/ report in a year subject to approval).
Corresponding Author will be entitled to two copies of the printed journal free of charge i.e. two printed copies are provided against one manuscript disregarding the number of the authors.
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
SPEAK Foundation dedicated to following best practices on ethical matters, errors and retractions, ensuring ethics in publication and quality of papers. The prevention of publication malpractice is one of the important responsibilities of the editorial board. Any kind of unethical behavior is not acceptable, and SPEAK do not tolerate insignificant plagiarism in any manner. Authors submitting articles to SPEAK Journals affirm that manuscript contents are original.
The following duties outlined for editors, authors, and reviewers shall adhere to the SPEAK submission guideline policies.
Duties of Editor
- Publication Decisions: Based on the review report of the editorial review board, the editor can accept, reject, or request modifications to the manuscript.
- Review of Manuscripts: Each editor must ensure that each manuscript is initially evaluated by the editor for originality on the basis of academic and practical merits, making use of appropriate software to do so. Following desk review, the manuscript is forwarded for blind peer review to the editorial review members who will make a recommendation to accept, reject, or modify the manuscript.
- Fair Review: The editor must ensure that each manuscript received by SPEAK Journal is reviewed for its intellectual content without regard to sex, gender, race, religion, citizenship, etc. of the authors.
- Confidentiality: The editor must ensure that information regarding manuscripts submitted by the authors is kept confidential.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: The editor of an SPEAK Journal will not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for his/her own research without written consent of the author.
- Responsive Measures: Editors should take reasonable responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper.
Duties of Authors
- Reporting Standards: Authors should present an accurate account of their original research as well as an objective discussion of its significance as well as sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the experiments. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable. Review papers should also be objective, comprehensive, and accurate accounts of the state of the art. Manuscripts will follow the submission guidelines of the journal. (See submission guidelines)
- Originality: Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original work and if the work and/or words of others have been used, this has been appropriately acknowledged.
- Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publications: Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. It is also expected that the author will not publish redundant manuscripts or manuscripts describing the same research in more than one journal.
- Acknowledgement of Sources: Authors should acknowledge all sources of data used in the research and cite publications that have been influential in the research work.
- Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to conception, design, execution or interpretation of the reported study. Others who have made significant contribution must be listed as co-authors. Corresponding author should ensure that there is a full consensus by all the authors and they have seen and agreed to the submitted version of the manuscript and their inclusion of names as co-authors.
- Data Access and Retention: Authors should provide raw data related to their manuscript for editorial review and must retain such data.
- Fundamental Errors in Published Works: If at any point of time, the author(s) discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in submitted manuscript, then the error or inaccuracy must be reported to the editor.
