Munmi Gogoi, Joyanta Borbora

Abstract

The adolescents of today are the future hope of the country and society. Therefore, to create a healthy and prosperous society of high democratic value, adolescents must be well educated with full physical and mental abilities to take up responsibility in coming future. Therefore, the adolescents are expected to behave in conformity with the cultural value and norms but in reality some adolescents behave differently from the expected normative pattern, creating problem for the society. It raises lot of questions about the factors responsible for these behaviours. The adolescents cannot be solely blamed for all the behaviours they perform rather the contributing factors for these deviant acts must be well identified and analysed. Factors like education system, rapid industrialization, family and parenting, peers and the whole social system play a vital role in influencing the behaviour of the adolescents.
